Jade jewellery is a sign of nobility

Jade is one of the earliest known ornamental stones and has a history that goes back to the prehistoric times up to 8000 years ago. It was used to make weapons, tools, simple architectural structures and was well revered for its strength and beauty. Soon it came to be used to be in jewellery items and now found in any Jewelry shop all around the world. Jade was so highly valued in the ancient Chinese culture that it was considered to be a divine stone and jade jewelry was a sign of nobility. It has not still lost its importance and millions of jade shops sell jade jewellery and artefacts. Basically, jade is a term that can be used to refer to the two stones i.e. the jadeite and nephrite stone. Jadeite is the more valued form and is more hard while the nephrite variety is softer and better geographically distributed of the two forms and both the stones are white in their native form. It is the presence of minerals that imparts colour to jadeite and nephrite. The colour range of jade is astonishingly wide and it can be found in many shades of red, green, black, brown and white. Its striking visual appeal and range made it the most valued stone in the ancient Chinese culture and its value was further revived in the late eighteenth century. In the Chinese culture, it is considered to be a symbol of grace, love, nobility, purity, and harmony and was revered in other cultures as well. For instance, in Egypt it was believed to symbolize love, ancient Romans took it as a symbol of wealth and pride, and the Mayan civilisations considered it more precious than gold. A lot of different meanings are attached to the different articles of jade jewellery. Chinese jade is the most used form of jade. This is because it stands for love and reflects purity of love.
